The AI always answers calls to your Porchlight number. There are three common setups: 1. Keep your existing number, forward only missed or busy calls Set up no-answer / busy forwarding on your carrier so your phone rings first — Porchlight only picks up when you don't. Takes about 2 minutes; we walk you through the carrier codes during onboarding. 2. Keep your existing number, forward all calls Forward every call from your existing line to Porchlight unconditionally. The AI answers each one. Best if you can't take any calls during work hours and want everything captured. 3. Use the Porchlight number directly as your business line Put the Porchlight number on your trucks, website, and Google profile. Every call goes straight to the AI — no carrier setup needed. Live transfer (any setup): If a caller asks to speak with a person, the AI will try to bridge them to a phone number you set in Settings (your cell, a partner's line, etc.). If no one answers, the AI reconnects and takes a complete message. The transfer destination must be a number that doesn't forward back to Porchlight — otherwise the transfer would loop. You can change any of this in Settings any time.
